We'll have two full days of world class music for your enjoyment at the Simply Music, Simply Mushrooms-Morel Festival. Bands from all across the Midwest will be perfroming, hanging out & participating in the morel festivities here in Bean Blossom.
The Indiana Boys- The Indiana Boys started out life in 2004 as a rotating ensemble of musicians, centered around singer-songwriter and guitarist, Dick Gist. The band evolved through various permutations, finally crystallizing around Dick and a talented young vocalist and songwriter named Kenan Rainwater. With Dick's encouragement, the two slowly assembled a body of original music that they would perform with regular help from bassist Dan Bilger and mandolin virtuoso Barry Todd. Kenan began pestering his long-time friend, banjo player Joe Bolinger, to open Pandora's box and let him perform some of the original songs that Joe had written over the years and had stored in various (literal) shoe boxes in his house. This lead to Joe eventually joining the band as a songwriter, banjo player, and occasional backup vocalist.
In the past year this busy group of guys have recorded to full length albums & opened up for such well known artists as The Travelin McCoury's, Rascal Flatts & Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band.

Once you hear his songs, you can't help but sing along. Chicago Farmer will be headlining the Friday Night of the Simply Music, Simply Mushrooms-Morel Festival.
New Old Cavalry-The New Old Cavalry is a young, energetic, and dynamic bluegrass group that has tore out of Bloomington, IN reaching as far as the west coast in only a few short years. While maintaining the format of a traditional string band, NOC sends astral bodies of loose psychedelia and jazz inspired improvisation crashing like an asteroid into the mountains of Appalachian harmonies and traditional bluegrass. Armed with a monstrous and diverse collection of original music, The New Old Cavalry has positioned itself as a late-night fan-favorite at festivals of all varieties, such as SummerCamp Music Festival, Tall Tree Lakes, and much more. In 2012 NOC will release its first feature album Carry Me Out This Way produced in San Francisco by Nat Keefe of Hot Buttered Rum.
Rusty Bladen's solo show is a high energy, freewheeling tour-de-force of Bladen originals, songs from the radio, and some excellent hippie country-rock tunes. The band show is an exhibition of what five guys holding onto the same roots rock and roll rope can pull an audience into. The band shows are fun, rockin' and loud. The solo shows are fun, rockin' and almost as loud.
A veteran of the Indiana music scene, Bladen has played many of the clubs, theatres, bars and festivals in Indiana to build his career. Bladen powers the crowd at his shows with an atmosphere of party songs, sing-alongs and a whole lot of audience participation.
With seven original CD's, Bladen ranks as one of the best-selling independent artists in the state.
